Adopt A Highway Huge Success

We had 7 volunteers 🙂 It was hot as Haiti but we got the job done. We collected 19 bags of trash…I know I said the same thing.
 
There were a lot of beer cans and bottles, liquor bottles big and small. We found styrofoam cups, clear plastic packing puffs, car parts, shotgun shells and lots of other fun things.
 
I think most of us were ready for the event to be over after three hours!!! Thank you to everyone that came out and help. I know I’m still recovering.
 
A big shout out to Indra’s husband for driving Indra and me to pick up the bags and take them to Wise Five. Yes, the trash folks would have came and picked the bags but I didn’t want to chance them breaking open and trash getting everywhere!!!
 
Our next event is in September, I’ll start bombarding our FB page the end of August. 😆
 
Hopefully our Adopt-A-Hwy sign will be set and we can take pictures with that, but in the meantime enjoy these pictures.

🚤 Dock Signs, Safety, and New AED at Rec Park!

For our members with boat docks, you may want to consider adding one of these classy and highly visible 911 boat dock signs. They’re just $32 each and are a great way to help emergency services locate your dock quickly in the event of an emergency.

The 911 Task Force visited us on March 1, 2025, and gave an excellent presentation attended by more than 20 members. Many of those who attended took extra materials for their neighbors — thank you!

📌 How to Order:

  • Fill out the dock sign application form. Leave the dock address blank.

  • After submitting, I’ll send you an aerial photo “snip” of your dock to confirm the location.

  • Orders typically take about 4 weeks to arrive (our first batch took a little longer).

  • Consider ordering two signs — one vertical (for visibility from the water) and one horizontal (facing your home). This way, whether a guest is on the dock or nearby, they can give 911 the exact location if needed.

🆘 NEW: AED Installed at Rec Park
We’ve also added an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) under the Pavilion. The 911 call center has it registered, so they know it’s available in an emergency.

💬 Looking for Volunteers
We’re looking for someone to help coordinate CPR and First Aid training. It’s free, and everyone who attends will receive a complimentary first aid kit.

We’ll be using the Lake Gaston Estates website to host an interactive calendar and sign-up forms — stay tuned!
